David considers himself immensely fortunate to have grown up with mentors like his father and grandfather in the law ensuring his legal education began very early.
While still at university and following a number of clerical stints with the firm in the 1980s, David switched lanes completely when recruited to a high profile NGO management role. That role was followed by a long career in church ministry. While still in that ministry role, David commenced his law degree at Monash University and in his first year was fortunate enough to win the DPP Keating prize for Criminal Law. Having to urgently move back to Sydney for family health reasons including caring for his father, David later finished off his degree at UTS with first class honours. David joined the firm again in 2018 and at the beginning of 2024 David became the firm’s first fourth generation partner. In this period David also formally qualified as a psychotherapist.
David's areas of practice are many and varied including Wills and Estates, Property law, Civil Litigation with experience in the Local, District and Supreme courts along with Land and Environment court work.
His experience and expertise with people benefits his clients by finding the shortest route to the resolution of a controversy or the completion of an everyday legal transaction. You may have come across one of David's high profile court victories reported on the front page of the Sydney Morning Herald at the end of 2024 – referred to elsewhere on this website.
David wishes to acknowledge the extraordinary benefit he has derived from being in partnership with Michael Sainsbury who recently passed the milestone of 40 years with the firm.
